19th Century Late Empire Drawing: Reclining Male Nude

*
Addendum June 12, 2012: This is what happens when a seller does not carefully pack an antique drawing securely for the four thousand mile journey from France at the hands of Post Office PRIMATES! When I saw the soft corrugated cardboard container this drawing was wrapped in and the flattened shape of the container I just about lost it. I had to go outside and mow the lawn again just to cool off. I knew that drawing was now worthless. Needless to say this one is going back to France and no, an iron will not erase the damage on old paper! What a waste!

Last week I picked up this nice 19th Century Neoclassical Academie male nude study from a seller in France. It should be in transit as I post this. Neoclassicism is the name given to decorative and visual arts, etc. that drew inspiration from "classical period" of art and culture of Ancient Rome and Greece. The Empire style was the second phase of Neoclassicism.
