Andreas Bach (1886 - 1963) Nude Ephebe, Nude Males, Female Nude (watercolor)

Andreas Bach (1886 - 1963) was born in Nurnberg, Germany in 1886. He originally trained as a lithographer from 1901-1907. He studied at the Nurnberger Kunstgewerbeschule under Heinrich Hein. From 1909 to 1914 he studied at the Akademie der bildenden Kunste in Munich under Angelo Jank and Heinrich von Zugel. From 1918 in Nurenberg he was employed as a freelance artist. He was a founding member of the artist group "Die Hutte." He had many one man shows in cities throughout Germany and in 1961 his work was displayed in a restrospective in Nurnberg. I think Andreas Bach is one of my favorites. His style is bold and affirmative in execution and he obviously had a love of drawing from life. The following drawings and watercolor are proudly displayed in my collection.

There are numerous examples of Bach's Academic works available. I have chosen quite a few here because they illustrate what I like to call "a love of the human body and anatomy." There is no doubt Andreas Bach was well versed in Human Anatomy. Bach apparently spent quite a lot of time drawing and painting the human figure and apparently loved the process as well. Enjoy:
